Employees’ Compensation Commission
The ECC is a government corporation which is more of a department outside of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the Philippines. It is the SSS auxiliary arm for rendering and making available the different programs pertaining to benefits of qualified SSS members for public and private sector employees and their dependents. These benefits may be work-connected contingencies such as sickness, injury, disability or death.
The Employees’ Compensation Commission function according to their official website are:
- To formulate policies and guidelines for the improvement of the employees’ compensation program;
- To review and decide on appeal all EC claims disapproved by the Systems; and
- To initiate policies and programs toward adequate occupational health and safety and accident prevention in the working environment
